An AC Technician needs to have a strong understanding of refrigeration systems and electrical components, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively. They must also comply with safety standards and regulations, often working with potentially hazardous materials and requiring licenses or certifications in many regions to legally practice.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems and related components.
• Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting to identify equipment problems.
• Ensure all AC units and systems function efficiently and perform optimally.
• Maintain records of all work performed and parts used in repairs.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers on system use and care.
• Comply with safety standards and regulations to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Maintain inventory of repair equipment and order necessary parts when needed.
• Advise customers on system upgrades and energy-efficient solutions.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure early detection of system failures.
• Calibrate thermostats, vents, and manage airflow to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with other technicians and professionals for complex installations.
• Stay updated on the latest AC technologies and improvement techniques.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in AC repair and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical components, and refrigerants.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals accurately.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is usually required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills required.
• Certification in handling refrigerants and license to work with electrical systems.
