An exciting opportunity is available for Advisor-Safety Systems based in based in our Jazan-Slagger plant reporting to Slagger Site Director .
About the role :
The objective of this role is to lead the safety, health, environmental and security (EHSS) activities on the site. This is a plant position for nearly a 300 person ilmenite slagging operation, with a multi-cultural workforce, working a 24hour/365day operation. The position is part of the site leadership team which maintains the site programs as well as sets the EHSS direction.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Providing advice and guidance to Site management with regard to emerging EHSS issues and regulatory trends
Proactively identifying requirements for EHSS policy development, objectives, and targets for performance continuous improvement
Designing and implementing EHSS programs to meet Company standards, regulatory requirements, local area (Jizan Economic City) expectations and support achievement of Site and Company strategic goals.
Ensuring EHSS and Process Safety management systems are in place, operating effectively and are continuously improving
Establishing effective EHSS audit programs to ensure that safety policies and procedures are being enforced
Establishing effective security procedures and parameters and ensuring that security policies and procedures are being enforced and that compliance with company and government requirements
Leading Safety, Process Safety and Environmental management meetings to improve cross-functional ownership and accountability of EHSS performance
Liaising with Health Specialists to ensure appropriate Industrial hygiene, health surveillance and well-being programs are in place, applicable to the site needs
Ensuring learnings from all Near Miss, Incident and accidents are appropriately shared both internally and externally to the business, as appropriate.
Ensuring hazard identification, risk management, safety incident reporting, incident investigation and action management systems are in place and operating effectively
Ensuring that the root causes of safety incidents are identified, corrective actions communicated and that status on corrective actions are regularly reviewed
Liaising with Contractor Companies to ensure that requirements regarding conformance to site standards, policies and procedures and commitment to safety principles are clearly understood and enforced
Providing technical direction and inputs to the site training programs to ensure that safety training requirements for all personnel on the site are met
You will ideally be required to have the following requirements:
Bachelor s Degree or equivalent in a related field;
12 years of a related work experience with a minimum of 5 years of managerial work experience;
Manufacturing industry background;
Leadership & managerial skills;
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
Knowledge of driving and implementing EHSS programs in accordance with standards such as OHSAS:18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management systems) and ISO:14001 (Environmental Management system);
Experience in implementing/managing a Process Safety Management (PSM) program including Process Hazard Analysis;
Experienced in root cause analysis and managing closure of action items;
Track record of design and successful implementation of SHE systems
Experience in environmental permitting preferably with the Saudi Arabian Royal Commission.
