To provide Air Traffic Services support for ATC operational and administrative staff at a designated Air base under the responsibilities of GAL ANS commitment to the customer ATC Contract.
Will also be responsible to:
KR1: To provide Air Traffic Services for aircraft operating in a nominated UAE Air Base TMA, VCR, CZ or other assigned and delegated airspace configuration.
Performs a variety of duties involving the processing of flight plan information, both National and International.
Works closely with military and civilian aviators to plan, coordinate, and implement flight plans into the International Airspace System.
Receives and sends flight plan and flight movement information via various communication methods.
Initiates, when necessary in collaboration with other ATC units and authorities, alerting service action in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Reviews proposed routes of flight for compliance with Notice-To-Airmen (NOTAM) pertaining to the latest information concerning conditions of airfields, weather, danger areas, operational deficiencies or restrictions, navigational aid status, etc.
Displays a high degree of professionalism whilst on duty.
Operate and monitors current flight planning systems to exchange flight plan data and related air traffic control messages with the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN).
Prepares Flight Data Strips for use by ATCOs on a timely basis.
KR2: Maintaining safe standards in accordance with all applicable Airfield Standards and Procedures published in Local Operating Procedures as promulgated through the Supervisor ATC and the Manager ATC.
Ensures the judicious application of LOPs and Facility Memoranda as well as applicable ICAO, GCAA, and UAE military procedures.
Conducts routine administrative duties, coordinates and records changes in serviceability of navigational and ATC equipment and facilities.
Maintains currency in each operating position to sufficiently maintain proficiency for all positions for which he/she is certified.
Receives and documents complaints or incidents concerning ATC service.
Maintains daily operations logs and ensures accuracy and timeliness of data entries.
Ensures ATC Supervisor is updated on current airfield status, weather, NOTAM activity, and any other events that would influence or impact safe flying operations.
KR3: Supervision of trainees and ATCA staff.
Trains or familiarizes controllers in new procedures and operating techniques.
Assists Ab Initio students in training either by on-the-job training, directed or self study, or other related activity.
Reviews and up-dates the Unit Technical Library for currency and accuracy.
Performs de-briefing sessions allowing Ab Initio and previously certified controllers to review their performance and progress, with a corrective action plan including feedback mechanisms.
Establishes, develops and maintains effective working relationships with VCR, APP and UAE ATC personnel.
Initiates primary and secondary crash rescue alert net as directed whenever an aircraft emergency or incident is received.
