Role Summary
Dubai Safari Park is seeking a passionate and experienced Animal Behavior
Management Specialist to oversee and support the implementation of comprehensive
behavioral management programs for the zoo's diverse animal collection. This role
plays a crucial part in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the animals,
enhancing their quality of life through scientifically backed behavioral management
techniques.
Main Duties
• Support: Assist in the development and execution of animal behavior
management programs to improve animal welfare and enrich the lives of the
animals in the park’s collection.
• Training and Development: Educate and train zookeepers on operant
conditioning techniques, ensuring a strong focus on positive reinforcement
methods.
• Behavior Management Plans: Collaborate with staff to design, implement,
and assess individualized behavior management plans tailored to the specific
needs of each animal.
• Training Oversight: Oversee and evaluate animal training sessions,
providing guidance and feedback to zookeepers to ensure effective practices
are employed.
• Record-Keeping and Reporting: Support the maintenance detailed records
of training sessions, behavior management plans, and progress reports.
Compile data for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Curators, the Animal Welfare Specialist,
members of the Zoology and Veterinary teams, and other departments to
ensure an evidence-based approach to animal care and welfare.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest scientific research
and trends in animal behavior management and apply this knowledge to
continually improve programs and practices.
Qualifications
Qualifications Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Behavior, Zoology, Biology, or a related field.
Proven expertise in operant conditioning with special focus on the use of positive
reinforcement techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train and mentor others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Animal Training or Behavior Analysis.
Experience with a diverse range of animal species.
Knowledge of record-keeping software used in zoos or animal care facilities.
Experience Minimum of 4 years of experience employing operant conditioning methods in
zoological facilities or similar environment.
Skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with all
levels of staff.

Remuneration Commensurate with experience.
