Roles & Responsibilities


The department of Mass Communication at the College of Communication, University of Sharjah, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Mass Communication Journalism and news writing in English. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and accomplished scholar with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will join our vibrant and diverse department, contributing to the academic and professional growth of our students. The appointment will be starting from the Academic Year 2026-2027.

Main accountabilities & expectations

Engage in scholarly research and creative activities, with a strong commitment to contributing to the field of Journalism with a specialized emphasis on environmental Communication.
Teach undergraduate courses in Mass Communication English Program, including but not limited to news writing, scriptwriting, and related subjects in English language.
Contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, research, and service. 
Efficiently handle advising tasks. 
Advise and mentor students in academic and career development, including research projects and internships. 

Desired Candidate Profile

A Ph.D. in mass communication or a related field from a reputable university. 
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. 
Evidence of successful teaching, advising, and service effectiveness. 
A record of research activities with a special focus in environmental communication.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative engagement within the department and university, as well as building connections with national/international professionals, businesses, and alumni. 
Bilingual communication skills (Arabic and English).
