Job Description

An Assistant Nurse in the Outpatient Department (OPD) plays a crucial role in delivering quality patient care in a fast-paced medical environment. They work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. This role demands a compassionate individual who excels at delivering excellent patient care, managing administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Assistant Nurse must be personable, attentive, and proactively address the needs of both patients and healthcare practitioners. The position involves interacting with patients, maintaining detailed records, and supporting physicians and nurses in providing optimal care.


Responsibilities
  • Assist with the intake and setup of patients in the outpatient department.
  • Support registered nurses in providing care and treatment to patients.
  • Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and instruments for patient consultations.
  • Help in maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and charts.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes promptly.
  • Educate patients and families about healthcare procedures and protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Help manage patient flow and scheduling to maximize department efficiency.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients awaiting treatment.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain supplies inventory and report any shortages to the nursing supervisor.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care services.

Requirements
  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant program or equivalent training.
  • Valid license.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient or clinical healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills necessary to interact with patients and staff effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks appropriately.
