Roles & Responsibilities

ECAE invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Early Childhood Development and Education. The successful candidate will contribute to ECAE s mission of advancing research, teaching, and professional practice in early childhood education (ECE), with a strong commitment to educational improvement in the UAE and beyond.

The successful applicant will:

a) Contribute to the development, delivery and continuous enhancement of high-quality courses with both practical and theoretical focus on early childhood development and education, across pre-service and in-service contexts. This includes curriculum innovation, assessment design, and alignment with international standards and UAE frameworks.

b) Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in coursework, capstone projects, teaching internships/practicums, and research-based dissertations, ensuring high levels of academic challenge, pastoral support, and professional relevance.

c) Conduct and publish high-quality educational research in areas related to early childhood development and education, with evidence of (or potential for) sustained publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals and engagement in externally funded research activity.

d) Engage in academic service and scholarly leadership, including contributions to programme accreditation, committees, community engagement, and partnerships with schools and educational organisations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

PhD in Education, or a closely related discipline, with a specialization relevant to early childhood development and education, from an accredited and internationally recognized university.

A clearly articulated and active research agenda that contributes to international scholarship in ECE.

A minimum of three years of successful higher education teaching experience, including pre-service and/or in-service teacher education.

Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.

Experience in developing or contributing to innovative, evidence-informed pedagogy and assessment.

Desired Candidate Profile

Current Rank:

Assistant Professor or higher at a reputable, accredited university.

Research Experience:

A record of research publications within the past three years, demonstrating a growing or established research profile (commensurate with rank) in early childhood development and education.

Evidence of significant scholarly contributions to the field, including empirical, theoretical, or practice-based research.

Well-developed expertise in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research methodologies, with a clear trajectory of research activity.

Demonstrated potential or experience in contributing to funded research projects and collaborative research networks.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Demonstrated knowledge or research interest in Play Pedagogy and contemporary ECE pedagogical approaches.

A record of successful research grant capture (PI or Co-I) and experience contributing to externally funded research centres or projects.

Professional experience in multicultural and multilingual environments, preferably within the Arab world or similar global contexts.

Strong organisational and project-management skills, with ability to lead or contribute to multiple academic initiatives.

Arabic language skills (reading, writing, speaking) are an advantage.
