Roles & Responsibilities
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Shariah Control Department. This
pivotal role ensures that all company activities, products, and services strictly comply with Islamic Shariah
principles as well as the regulations set by the Central Bank and other relevant authorities.
As the department lead, you will act as the primary liaison between executive management and the Shariah
Committee, providing strategic guidance, overseeing Shariah reviews and audits, and ensuring the effective
implementation of all Shariah resolutions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Compliance
• Ensure full compliance of company operations, contracts, and products with Islamic Shariah
principles.
• Develop and oversee a robust Shariah governance framework in line with Central Bank standards
and AAOIFI guidelines.
• Monitor and ensure implementation of Fatwas, guidelines, and ISSC Internal Shariah Supervision
Committee decisions.
• Identify Shariah non-compliance issues and recommend corrective measures.
ISSC Secretariat & Liaison
• Act as secretary and coordinator for the Internal Shariah Supervision Committee.
• Prepare and present reports and documentation for ISSC meetings.
• Ensure timely execution of ISSC resolutions and provide regular updates to senior management.
Shariah Consultation and Research
• Provide expert Shariah advice to underwriting, investment, claims, and product development
teams.
• Conduct research to support innovation and alignment with contemporary Islamic finance
practices.
• Contribute to developing new Shariah compliant strategies, concepts, and products.
Shariah Reviews and Audits
• Lead periodic Shariah audits to evaluate compliance across underwriting, investments, re Company, claims, and operations
• Identify and report non compliances with recommendations for corrective actions.
Product Review and Approval
• Review and approve new and existing Company products and services from a Shariah perspective.
• Collaborate with Product Development and Legal teams to ensure contracts, policies, and
marketing materials comply with Shariah rulings.
Training and Awareness
• Design and deliver internal training sessions on Shariah compliance and Company principles.
• Build awareness across departments on the importance of Shariah adherence.
Regulatory Reporting
• Prepare and submit Shariah compliance reports to the Central Bank and regulatory bodies.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and align company practices accordingly
Desired Candidate Profile
• Bachelors degree in Islamic Shariah or a related specialization.
• Professional certification in Islamic finance and/or Company example AAOIFI, CIBAFI, along with a
recognized insurance qualification local or international.
• Minimum 10 years experience in Shariah supervision within Islamic financial institutions,
including at least 5 years in Company insurance.
• Strong command of both English and Arabic spoken and written.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and advisory skills.
