Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection, inventory, and marking of new equipment before use.
  • Provides technical assistance, training, and instruction to staff on equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Prepares and enters data in logs, reports, databases, and records regarding equipment inspections, repairs, and condition.
  • Conducts regular rounds and systematic preventive maintenance on all biomedical equipment to ensure immediate problem rectification.
  • Analyzes equipment for failure, faults, or malfunctions using test instruments and technical literature.
  • Interprets engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams, and illustrations.
  • Offers engineering and technical advice to ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards.
  • Works evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as per the head of department's schedule.
  • Strictly adheres to organizational regulations and policies related to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards (EHSMS, HAAD, JCI, ISO).
  • Supports continuous quality improvement and participates in all quality assurance activities.
  • Participates and contributes to scheduled in-service training, CNEs, CMEs, in-house activities, and conferences.
  • Exercises effective interpersonal skills when dealing with staff, associates, and management.
  • Maintains confidentiality as per the signed agreement.
  • Demonstrates the ability to listen and promote effective communication.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of and respects hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Head of Department.
  • Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Works in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions.
  • Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Notifies OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, and assists with risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
  • Attends applicable OSH and infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
  • Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biomedical Engineering or a Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Instrumentation, or an equivalent degree/fellowship.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience with a B.E. degree.
  • Skills:
    Proficiency in English to read and comprehend technical literature and schematics.
    Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel.
