Responsible for supporting the Senior Engineer in ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with SEHA safety and management standards, policies and procedures, statutory and contractual requirements.

Supervising day to day departmental work and inspecting equipment:

Supervising the maintenance of medical equipment, following up of Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance from maintenance contractor
Supervising inventory and data entry for medical equipment
Ensuring that all the equipment under warranty are regularly maintained by the suppliers
Following up corrective and preventive maintenance work orders of biomedical maintenance contractor and warranty equipment
Inspecting reports of corrective and preventive maintenance and close work orders in facility management system
Attending to the supplier for testing and commissioning of new arrival medical equipment
Performing electrical safety test and making sure equipment is safe to use on patients
Providing the complete information and data of newly received medical equipment to the maintenance section to keep asset inventory


Supporting installation of biomedical works:

Assisting in receiving new medical equipment, supervising installation and checking for satisfactory working
Preparing drafts on technical specifications required for the purchase and supply of medical equipment, for new facilities or for extensions or renovations on existing ones and submits to the Senior Engineer for review
Following up with other engineering departments (electrical, civil and mechanical) regarding requirements and modifications to be done in order to install new medical equipment
Working alongside the engineers providing service to medical equipment under warranty and those covered under maintenance contract in order to get hands-on training


Providing technical and monitoring assistance to the department:

Carrying out site visits and inspections as required
Keeping abreast of potential local, regional and international vendors and
manufacturers
Attending medical equipment conferences and exhibitions
Carrying out any required maintenance personally, and overseing all maintenance is carried out, to ensure proper functioning of biomedical equipment
Ensuring adequate labeling of all medical equipment
Assisting in the preparation of SEHA’s annual physical asset management and maintenance plan
Monitoring the external environment for best practices on the management and maintenance of biomedical equipment

Communicating and coordinating:

Making routine visits to meet the end users and conducting random checks on medical equipment
Coordinating transfer of medical equipment in and out of the facility
Supporting various departments for their workshops and seminars involving medical equipment
Arranging periodical clinical and operational in-service to the end users for new and old medical equipment as per the requirement


Coordinating and quality check:

Liaising and obtaining engineering drawings from manuals issued by the manufacturer, along with supporting information, to determine the maintenance requirements of equipment
Assisting in compliance with equipment safety use and reports any adverse events to the Senior Engineer
Coordinating with suppliers to carry out the required maintenance, and ensures that the work is being carried out correctly and in a timely manner
Coordinating the service provided by contractors to ensure that set preventative maintenance plans are adhered to, and obtaining regular feedback from facilities on the service provided; reporting feedback to Senior Engineer
Coordinating with the relevant vendor to arrange any necessary training for concerned employees within SEHA’s facilities
Ensuring availability of maintenance contracts between medical equipment manufacturers and the various facilities and clinics under SEHA, for review by the senior Senior Engineer
Investigating equipment failure and user-error
Performing audit on the corrective maintenance for all medical devices under MEMP (Medical Equipment Maintenance Plan)
Monitoring work performed by Technician to ensure requirements are met
Monitoring work performed by outside contractor to ensure requirement are met and results are documented properly

Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance standards:

Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines
Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies

Ensuring Personal Effectiveness:

Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position
Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies
Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care


Engineering

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
qualification requiring NLT 3 years training course.


Desired:
Relevant post graduate degree :MSc or PhD

Experience:

a. NLT 2 years postgraduate experience in Biomedical Engineering
b. NLT 1 year
