The Business Development specialist will help coordinate and manage the pipeline of RFPs for the Public Affairs team. This person will work closely with account team leaders to develop RFP responses, including organizing brainstorm sessions, conducting background research, packaging content into clear and compelling proposals, customizing standard approaches and credentials for each opportunity, and working with the finance team to properly assign resource and budgets for each opportunity.
This person will also support across different client accounts to support content development and research. The Project Consultant is responsible for coordinating internal meetings and events, and working on proposals and client deliverables under the supervisor of a Consultant or assigned account manager. The business development specialist is expected to demonstrate strong tactical abilities and writing fundamentals, and have strong written and oral communication skills. The business development specialist will interface with all levels of staff and may have contact with staff members of the client s organization regarding project issues.
DEMONSTRATING SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE AS A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (expected to be performed after initial period of six months)
• Prepares customized credential packages for prospective clients, highlighting APCO capabilities, relevant case studies, and high-level industry notes and observations (which requires a minimal review by project managers)
• Drafts complete initial RFP responses
• Participates actively in internal and client meetings (as required), offering knowledgeable observations and suggestions
• Is able to maintain email/telephone contacts with clients as needed, without requiring a supervisor to intervene on routine matters
EDUCATION: University degree
EXPERIENCE: 2 - 3 years relevant experience in a PR agency or Management Consultancy, demonstrated experience supporting RFPs in previous rle
Skills: Excellent writing, proficient use of PowerPoint
Strong time management and ability to independently set and manage project timelines to meet delivery requirements
