The DCS Operator will co-ordinate the shift in the areas of DCS and field operations, process controls, quality, startup /shutdown, emergency response and shipping activities under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor as well as take appropriate action to ensure safety and efficiency in the absence of the supervisor.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of HSE laws, Company policies and procedures and Executes them
Developing and implementing on-the-job training and development programmes for shift personnel including new recruits and continuous training as changes in plant technology and equipment design occur.
Competently co-ordinates DCS & field operations taking all appropriate actions for plant start-up, shut down, process control, quality control and responses to abnormal plant conditions.
Controls plant upsets and emergencies in an effort to minimize production loss and equipment failure.
Conducts trouble shooting exercises and identifies solutions for problems in plant operations.
Monitors process/equipment operating parameters and adjusts plant operating conditions.
Optimizes plant/unit operation ensuring: (a) equipment and process parameters remain within prescribed tolerances (b) strict adherence to all environmental regulations.
Ensures that the permit to work system is followed and all safety precautions are taken when releasing equipment for maintenance activities.
Reviews sample results and make adjustment to ensure product specification and environment conformance.
Responsible for implementing a program for training and development of sub-ordinates to cover all aspects of plant.
In-depth knowledge of plant operation procedures (SOP), plant equipment and process control
Ability to write Operating procedures.
Ability to apply engineering disciplines (mechanical, Electrical, and Process) to Operations.
Ability to start/shutdown entire plant and all equipment.
Ability to supervise, communicate, interact effectively with Technicians, Supervisors, Engineers etc.
Knowledge and operation of Distributed Control System, particularly Delt V of Emerson.
DCS & Emergency shutdown system (Good knowledge in Process interlocks and Shut Down Interlocks)/ Process Control Loops-DCS complex loops
Required Candidate profile
- MSc Chemical Engg. / Mechanical Engg.
- Experience 7-9 yrs on DCS operation in large petrochemical industries. Preference will be given to Methanol and Ammonia Plant DCS operator.
- Desirable : Window based Emerson Delta V DCS operation
- Good communication and Reporting skill.
- Familiar with process Safety and PTW System.
- Can independently work in field during Plant S/D .
- Can write SOPs.
