7. Adding a Bad Career Summary
Your career summary is an important section of your resume and employers do read that. Avoid generic and vague lines like, “Skilled professional seeking career growth.”
Provide some meaty information to the recruiter in the first line itself, such as –
“An accomplished sales manager with 10 years of experience in client relations, lead generations and business developments, adding to 50% increase in the sales volumes.”
8. Including Personal Stuff
No employer is interested in your marital status, religious values or your hobbies. Keep these things to your social circle.
9. Using Personal Pronouns
This approach looks good for school students only. Being professionals, your resume should not be written in a first or third person. Use sentence fragments to make your resume look more professional and neat.
For e.g. – Use the sentence “Skilled at leading cross-functional teams” instead of “I am skilled at leading cross-functional teams”.

10. Creating a Very Long or a Very Short Resume
Most of the people make this mistake of writing their life history on the resumes, it is sheer unprofessional and no recruiter would even want to consider it. There is no rule about appropriate resume length, but it is always advised to strike off any irrelevant or redundant experiences. Your resume should look crisp and provide every required information.
