In this interview with Naukrigulf, Sandeep Pathania, Director of HR & Administration , Azizi Development , a real estate company based in UAE, talks about company culture, employment in Covid – 19 times, and a little about himself. Here is what he had to say:
Please share your professional journey with us and how did you reach where you are.
I have the pleasure of serving as the Director of Human Resources and Administration of Azizi Developments, a leading private real estate developer based in Dubai, UAE. I’ve taken on this role nearly 5 years ago, with great pride. I’ve worked tirelessly to structure the firm into the lean and effective organisation that it is today and will continue to work towards operational excellence. A firm’s people are its driving force for success and most important asset – I am delighted to spearhead the human capital management of a developer that serves a huge catalyst to the development of the great emirate of Dubai.
We have used Naukrigulf for mid- and senior-level management recruitment for about 5 years now. It is a very user-friendly, well-designed and effective platform that continues to help us in acquiring outstanding talent across various departments.
Which aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Talent acquisition is always the most enjoyable field. We work hard to ensure meritocracy, and to source the right talent. While it is a challenging pursuit, with it being difficult to find the right skill sets, we do great at acquiring suitable professionals, playing our part in helping the firm reach its business goals.
What is the best part about working in your company?
Azizi Developments is my second home. We work as one family to achieve our overarching goals. Everyone has an important part to play and the success of the company is a collective effort.
What is your favourite way to de-stress after a long day at work?
After working hours, I like to spend time with my family, read and work out. Maintaining a balanced lifestyle is key. A proper routine keeps one physically and mentally fit. The most important thing is to pick an activity that one truly enjoys.
Please share your favourite books or authors with our audience.
One of my favourite books is ‘Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts’. This New York Times bestseller by Brené Brown has been a very inspiring read.
Do you live by any particular motto?
‘United we stand, divided we fall’ – this is my guiding notion. This not only applies to how we work as an organisation, but also how we work with our customers – customer-centricity is key to any business, especially in off-plan real estate, so we instill it in all employees.
What advice would you like to give to the jobseekers who are struggling to find a job during the times of COVID-19?
First and foremost, the UAE government has done an outstanding job in safeguarding the future of people who have lost their jobs. Dubai’s economy is recovering swiftly; this will create more jobs in the near to mid-term future. Job seekers can, in the meantime, work on their CVs and find ways in which they can enhance their skill sets, making them more desirable once firms start recruiting. Staying on top of current trends in one’s industry helps and reaching out to one’s contacts does too.
Any suggestions for jobsites to help them become more relevant in the post COVID-19 world?
Yes – I recommend webinars to discuss the current situation. Experts should leverage these platforms to share their insights, which would help job seekers in their endeavors.
