Roles & Responsibilities

Focusing on operational excellence and continuity, the role is responsible for overseeing Marine Operations of the Svitzer fleet and Marine Standards duties in the port of Qalaht. With uptime, on hire and reliability as a guiding mantra, the role will be responsible for ensuring the standards and uptime of Svitzer s deployed assets by working with crews, shore side staff and external stakeholders, not least customers and relevant authorities to ensure a customer centric approach to business working in collaboration with Regional and Group functions to deliver the customers needs whilst ensuring a safety based approach to operations.

To be responsible for Marine and Operational Excellence duties covering Marine Standards (HSSEQ) and Vessel and Onshore Operational matters for Oil and Gas under the direction of the Oman Terminal Manager.

To assist in the development of the Company s Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality management system (HMS) capturing local customer and national maritime regulatory requirements and ensure compliance of the system is followed by the country s operation.

Deliver most possible value to our owners and customers through cost-effective and reliable services.

Continuously improving safety awareness and working practices within the company to enhance the safety and operational culture of Svitzer as a world leading towage provider.

Specific Areas of Responsibility-

  • Responsibility financial performance of the Contract including revenue, OPEX, capitalized maintenance & repair and overheads Costs
  • Plan, execute and evaluate business and operational strategies to maximize the value of Svitzer s business in the assigned geography and operations.
  • Lead and manage an engaged onshore and offshore organization, developing performing staff and supporting and initiating fair consequences for those who are not.
  • Continuously drive operational excellence and customer focused solutions in terms of timely, reliable and safe service.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers and other stakeholders and authorities.
  • Promote an unrivalled security and safety environment in the Svitzer organization, making Safety and Security a competitive advantage for Svitzer ( Do it Safely or Not at All ).
  • Promote an industry-leading safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensure adherence to all regional operational procedures and work practices

Ensure that all employees of the company you lead understand and adhere to Svitzer guidelines, authorities and policies.

Drive cost efficiency in all administrative, operational and technical expenditure.

Provide management oversight for Technical Supt and M&R spend and dockings (every 5 years).

Implement best practice standards for finance and operations, as communicated by Svitzer Group and/or AMEA Region.

Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements for the local operation, in co- operation with AMEA Region Legal Counsel and Regional Functional specialists.

In co-ordination with the Regional CFO, maintain an efficient financial organization to secure financial transparency, reporting and analysis.

Ensure that vessels are manned and equipped according to legal requirements and Svitzer standards for relevant operational activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

A seasoned marine services general manager with a proven record of successful management of operations servicing the Terminal Towage industry.

Achieved Master Mariner Class 1 CoC, demonstrating command-level maritime expertise and leadership.

A financially literate business leader with project implementation experience preferred

Tertiary qualifications in relevant business or marine management.

Strong business acumen and negotiation skills

Ability to influence and engage. An organizer

Nuanced and effective stakeholder management up to national Port authorities and Client's Senior to Executive management level.

Sound financial management knowledge and analytical skills, structured and data driven

Proven experience in Project Management

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels.

High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity

Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills The ability to think conceptually while managing the detail

Strong understanding of change management and the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure
