The role of a Cashier is vital in retail and service industry settings where one manages cash transactions with customers. As the face of the company at the point of sale, the cashier must provide excellent customer service by greeting customers with a friendly demeanor, accurately handling monetary transactions, and efficiently managing the cash register and associated operations. Beyond processing sales, a cashier is also responsible for resolving customer inquiries, dealing with returns, and maintaining records that are vital for inventory management. Responsibilities

• Accurately handle cash, credit card, and mobile payment transactions at the POS terminal.
• Provide a friendly and courteous interaction with all customers at the register.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and counter space.
• Ensure accurate processing of incoming and outgoing sales transactions and receipts.
• Offer assistance and guidance with inquiries or product information where necessary.
• Assist in the preparation and completion of end-of-day financial reconciliations.
• Adhere to all company protocols and legal regulations regarding cash handling procedures.
• Process product exchanges, returns, and refund requests as per company policy.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of current promotions and communicate these to customers.
• Assist in inventory management by recording all sales transactions accurately.
• Report discrepancies, security issues, or theft to management promptly.
• Help restock merchandise and arrange items neatly in the store when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education certification is required.
• Previous experience in a cashier or customer-facing role is preferred.
• Strong numerical and mathematical skills for accurate transaction handling.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication abilities are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Capability to operate standard cash register and knowledge of POS systems.
• Flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
