Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Category Coordinator supports the Category Manager in executing category strategies, managing product data, coordinating supplier activities, and ensuring smooth daily operations. The purpose of the role is to increase efficiency, improve product availability, and support category performance through strong planning, analytics, and communication.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Category Operations Support

• Assist with category planning, assortment reviews, and performance analysis.

• Maintain SKU master data, pricing, barcodes, packaging details, and supply chain attributes.

• Prepare category documents: planograms, item lists, delisting lists, and promotional calendars according to company SOP.

• Track item creation, listing, and delisting workflows in ERP systems.

B. Supplier Coordination

• Serve as daily point of contact for suppliers regarding documentation, artwork, samples, and onboarding.

• Collect and validate required documents

• Coordinate product testing, sample evaluations, and quality compliance checks.

• Support negotiation preparation with supplier pricing, promotional plans, and volume data.

C. Data Management & Reporting

• Assist with category dashboards on sales, margin, availability, and promotional performance.

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for category review meetings.

• Validate pricing changes, promotions, and margin calculations.

• Identify errors in product data and follow up with relevant departments.

D. Promotion & Planogram Execution

• Ensure correct and timely implementation of promotions across channels.

• Coordinate planogram updates with the Space Planning team.

• Track in-store execution with Merchandising and Operations.

E. Cross-Functional Support

• Work with Supply Chain to resolve availability issues.

• Support Marketing with product images, descriptions, and campaign inputs.

• Collaborate with Finance on invoice checks, BDAs, rebates, and deal verification.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.

Experience:

• 1–3 years experience in food retail, FMCG, merchandising, or buying support.

Technical Skills:

• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

• Familiarity with category management tools is an advantage.
