Sudan is a huge country, more than four times the size of Sweden and the third largest in Africa even after South Sudan was carved out in 2011. Sudan has a lot of land and resources, a population of 40 million and a history that predates the Nubian kingdoms established along the Nile River around 4,000 BC.
Sudan s children make up half of the total population, and the past two decades have seen their lives improve. Fewer boys and girls are dying before their fifth birthday. Primary school attendance is increasing. Immunization coverage is high and the country remains polio free.
Still, millions of children continue to suffer from chronic conflict, from seasonal natural disasters and disease outbreaks, from under-investment in basic social services. Sudan ranks as one of the worst in the world for malnutrition, and three million of its school aged children are not in the classroom.

Purpose of the post
The Child Protection (Social Norms IMS) Officer is expected to support the consolidate the above recommendations and by supporting the workflow of the unit under the supervision of the IR manager and in close collaboration with the Child Protection Specialist.
• Provide technical assistance to the National Council for Children Welfare by strengthening systems used in collecting and analyzing data, field assessments and different sources of information. He/she will be playing a key role in providing in a compiled and analytical form the necessary information, including through graphic means such as mapping, tables, charts and narrative writing.
• Undertakes ongoing field visits to UNICEF project sites for the participation in, or observation of project activities and local conditions.
• Prepares routine reports on results of visits and project progress. Collects and assembles data and information about Child Protection issues/projects and provides updated information on programme/project financial and administrative status for analysis and report purposes.
• Analyzes programme/project status and recommends appropriate adjustments.
• Investigates queries regarding authorization, delivery or payments and follows up with Finance, Administrative, Supply and Programme staff on processing of payments, advances to government and liquidation of accounts. Ensures that activities are in accordance with plans of action.
• Communicates and coordinates with local counterparts and partner organizations on project details.
• Strengthen the community engagement work, Strengthen reporting to capture results from engagement with different social,
• Report on what occurs as a result of engagement with women, leaders, children, adolescents and youth
• Develop case studies to build an evidence base on stakeholder engagement for social norms change.
• Recommends courses of action to the supervisor.
• Drafts sections of donor, annual and other reports, as required by CO.
• Follow up with institutional, NGOs and CSO partners.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have
• An advanced university degree (Master s or higher) in Anthropology, Social, Economic Sciences, Law and other relevant disciplines.
• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in project administration, including data collection and analysis, and campaigning.
• Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
• Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is essential.
• Experience with projects or a programme implemented by multinational or bilateral donors is an asset.
