Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Accurately translate complex technical, legal, or business documents from Chinese to English and vice versa, ensuring precision and cultural sensitivity.
- Adapt translated content to suit the target audience, considering nuances in tone, style, and regional variations within both Chinese and English.
- Conduct thorough research on specialized terminology, industry-specific jargon, and cultural contexts to maintain translation accuracy.
- Proofread and edit translated materials to guarantee grammatical correctness, fluency, and adherence to the original intent of the source text.
- Manage translation projects, including organizing files, meeting deadlines, and communicating effectively with clients and project managers.
- Collaborate with other translators, editors, and subject matter experts to ensure high-quality translations and resolve any linguistic challenges.
- Stay updated on current events, cultural trends, and industry developments in both Chinese and English-speaking regions.
- Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation services in meetings, conferences, or presentations, conveying the speaker's message accurately.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards in all translation and interpretation tasks.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field; a Master's degree is highly preferred.
- Demonstrates fluency in both Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) and English, with native or near-native proficiency in at least one.
- Holds relevant certifications, such as the ATA certification or equivalent, demonstrating professional translation competence.
- Boasts a minimum of 5 years of professional translation experience, highlighting a proven track record of successful projects.
- Has experience working in the finance, technology, or legal industry for at least 3 years, showcasing practical application of skills.
- Exhibits a strong understanding of Chinese and Western cultures, enabling culturally appropriate translation choices.
- Possesses exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar and editing abilities.
- Displays strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities.
