Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' nutritional needs by reviewing medical records, conducting interviews, and performing physical assessments to create personalized nutrition care plans.
- Develop and implement customized dietary plans, considering medical conditions, food allergies, and patient preferences, to optimize health outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on nutrition principles, disease-specific diets, and healthy eating habits to promote self-management and adherence to treatment plans.
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust dietary plans as needed, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and making evidence-based recommendations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for various conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and gastrointestinal disorders, using the latest research.
- Counsel patients on weight management strategies, offering support and guidance to achieve and maintain a healthy weight through lifestyle modifications.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of nutrition-related protocols and procedures.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in nutrition science and best practices through continuing education and professional development.
- Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulatory standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Hold a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Demonstrate at least 1-3 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with exposure to diverse patient populations.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy principles and practices.
- Show proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient care.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
- Display empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in helping patients improve their health through nutrition.
- Show ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Have fluency in English, with additional language proficiency being a plus.
