Job Description

To coordinate the onsite commission and startup of control & automation equipment & provide specialist knowledge and advice to both client and subcontractor.

Principal Accountabilities

Provide specialist knowledge and advice relating to control & automation, cause and effective testing, complex loop checking,
Loop tuning
Logic modification, logic troubleshooting.
Partake in walk-downs & verification of subsystem handover
Progress reporting
Coordination with other disciplines
Partake in client and subcontractor meetings
Integration testing.
Perform hands-on commissioning in both Greenfield and Brownfield environments.
Industrial communication / networking.
Subsystem handover and management
Verification of check sheets & verification of completed work.
Lead and participate in HSSE Safety Leadership walk downs / workshops
Lead and participate in Flawless Delivery Leadership walk downs / workshops
Demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSE behavior at all times, and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained.
Attend all mandatory training as specified in HSE, and Permit To Work training schedule, and to act as Performing and/or Area Authority
Act as Company Representative at all times reporting to site CSU Lead but not be limited to site, liaising with PDO Engineering teams if and when required but also with close liaison with key vendor specialists.
Lead Subsystem handover and management for your discipline
Attend and execute the Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) when required.
Ensure all packages have clear defined preservation requirements identified and applied.
Responding to engineering site queries where clarification of design is required and liaise with engineering contractor where a response to TQ’s as required.
Ensuring that commissioning procedures and paperwork is completed to enable a smooth hand over of systems to Operations.

Oil & Gas / Petroleum


Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas facilities (or similar) in an Instrument & Control or Automation relative role pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup.

Graduation in Engineering - Electronics or Instrumentation & Control.
It is essential to be familiar with the detailed workings of PLCs & exposure to PLC related software.

Exposure to logic troubleshooting & the practical testing of logic both software and on paper.
Safety instrumented systems
Fieldbus, Modbus, Ethernet, Profibus
Ability to converse with specialist automation engineers & provide solutions to logic issues.
HMI Ergonomics – upgrading.
Procedure writing & reviewing procedures
Experience on small remote location sites both greenfield and brownfield with ability to work independently
Possess the ability to act as mentor.
Proficient user of Microsoft and other related software and applications more so on database software development packages
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manuals e.g. P&IDs, PFDs, Isometrics,
Good command of English language both written and verbal
Can produce technically accurate, complete and ‘easy to understand’ documents Completions – Liaise with database engineer to verify and/or identify system / subsystem mark-ups and correction systemisation.
Ability to Lead / supervise a multinational team, undertaking commissioning activities in small to large size projects.
Interfaces with other key disciplines to ensure integration of activities.
Implement & ensure the site contractor tests the subsystems as per project commissioning test sheets / procedures.
Reports on work progress, bringing to notice potential problems or delays and recommended solutions.
Both greenfield and brownfield experience is essential.
Working with multinational companies, strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity are required.
