Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervising and supporting Community Health Workers (CHWs) in providing health education
- Working with the community in arranging place/site visits
- Supporting CHWs on timely treatment of children for diseases such as pneumonia and diarrhea
- Sensitizing the communities and supporting them to identify main health problems and helping them address those problems
- Conducting risk assessments and audits to ensure machinery and equipment are safe
- Ensuring management systems and working methods meet current legal standards
- Working with managers, employees and trade unions to develop policies and take action to encourage safety
- Identifying and reporting any problem that may interfere with achieving program objectives
- Data collection, insertion, processing, analysis and developing reports
- Detailing achievements and sharing lessons by conducting regular monthly meetings with the team, CHWs and community committee members
- Developing a monthly plan and discussing required activities with the team
- Conducting regular supervision visits to evaluate field activities and provide constructive feedback
- Addressing training gaps during supervision visits
- Assisting in training needs assessment, coordinating training sessions and community meetings
- Explaining regulations in occupational health, noise, dust, fumes, fire safety and handling dangerous materials
- Conducting weekly supervisor meetings with Community Health Committees (CHCs)
- Ensuring integration of protection and gender throughout project implementation, including enabling women participation in decision making
- Performing other relevant tasks assigned by line manager within program implementation scope
- Running training courses to encourage and promote safe working practices
Desired Candidate Profile
- University degree or higher in Community Health, nursing, medical background, public health programs, agribusiness, program management, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in NGOs, OPDs, or development programs, preferably in Community Health Programs
- Experience with adult learning/participatory training methodologies
- Practical understanding of barriers faced by persons with disabilities in accessing opportunities in agricultural value chains and solutions to overcome them
- Proven experience as a trainer, facilitator, or mentor in capacity-building workshops
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and communication skills
- Leadership and good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen
- Negotiation skills at different levels
- Flexible and adaptable to work under unstable environments and under pressure with limited support
- Capacity building skills
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Flexible and willing to work additional hours to ensure required results
- High level of reliability, objectivity and honesty
- Willingness to work in Somalia environment in unsocial hours and harsh conditions
