About the mission
Desired start date: February 1 st 2020
Duration of the mission: 6 months (renewable)
Location: Position based in Beirut
Lebanon hosts about 1.5 million Syrian refugee, mainly in its northern governorate (Akkar and Tripoli) and in the Bekaa Valley. SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) has launched its operations in Lebanon in March 2013 in order to address the immediate needs of both Syrian refugee and Lebanese host families also affected by the crisis. Solidarit s International s mission in Lebanon has two operational bases (Tripoli and Zahle) and a coordination office in Beirut.
Key areas of intervention for the mission are the following:
• Emergency WASH service provision in informal settlements (UNICEF funding) Beqaa & North
• Emergency response & Shelter-Protection integrated approach (ECHO funding) - North
• Shelter for Protection & Health (BPRM consortium lead) Beqaa & North
• Mapping of informal settlements (MEDAIR / UNHCR) North
About the job
- Contributes to the success of external financial audits
- Performs internal financial pre-audits to assess the risk level of projects
- Is the main contact for headquarters regarding external audits and preparatory documents
- Carries out internal organizational audit missions in the field
- Participates in mission risk management
- Participates in the implementation of internal procedures that best respond to donor requests
- Contributes to the retrieval of the missions' physical and digital archives as well as their processing and analysis.
- Participates in training and raising awareness of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL's internal procedures and tools
- Act as a link for the TDI/audit department at HQ regarding External audit, Internal audit and Recommendations Follow-up
This position has no direct reports and is under the direct supervision of the Country Director. Strong coordination with all Coordinators is expected.

Corporate Planning / Consulting / Strategy / M&A

Desired Candidate Profile

• BA, Master Degree or equivalent in (International) Law or Social Science
• Minimum 2 years experience with NGO specialized in humanitarian assistance (field or HQ positions)
• 1 to 2 years of experience in similar positions
• Significant experience in compliance related matters and audits
• Previous experience with SI is highly desirable
Technical skills and knowledge:
• Ability to make his/her work and deliverable accessible to non-technical colleagues
• Demonstrated strong cultural sensitivity and adaptability
• Capacity to provide leadership and be a unifying force
• Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions
• Stress management skills: ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, with peaks of heavy workloads
• Computer literacy with very good command of MS Office Suite
Soft skills and spirit:
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Autonomy and capacity of initiative
• Diplomacy and coordination skills (team spirit)
• Flexible (will have to take on responsibilities that might not be directly in his/her JD)
• Fluent in English
• Very good command of French is highly desired
• Good command of Arabic is an asset
