Job Description of Carpentry & Civil Construction Manager
A Carpentry & Civil Construction Manager oversees and manages all aspects of
construction projects involving both civil engineering and carpentry work, including
planning, execution, and completion, ensuring projects adhere to schedules,
budgets, and quality standards.
He will be responsible for the following:
- Overall administrative control of staff in his section.
- Project Management:
Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling construction projects from initiation to
closeout, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Site Management:
Supervising on-site activities, conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with
design and safety standards, and addressing challenges as they arise.
- Carpentry Oversight:
Managing carpentry-specific aspects of construction, potentially including
overseeing joinery and furniture manufacturing, or fit-out projects.
- Civil Engineering Knowledge:
Understanding civil engineering principles, site preparation, structural elements, and
compliance with building codes.
- Team Leadership:
Hiring staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring smooth operations.
- Communication and Reporting:
Maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, clients, and team members, and
providing regular progress reports.
- Problem-Solving and Crisis Management:
Responding effectively to delays, emergencies, and other issues that may arise
during a project.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is typically required for
construction manager positions.
- Extensive experience in construction, often with specific experience in civil
engineering and carpentry-related roles, is highly valued.
- Ensuring proper operation of all the equipments / tools in his section. In case of any
damage to any equipment, the matter should be reported to the HOD - Production.
- Managing duty schedules of workers, duty timings and controlling overtime in his
section.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, the ability to read drawings, and
proficiency in relevant software are beneficial.
- Appointing the staff to routinely inspect the Production areas for any damaged floor
tiles, chipped off paints, walls, doors, etc.
- Regular purchases for his section as per the standard procedures.
- Ensuring that all carpentry related works are being performed on time.
- Maintaining the necessary records on the specified forms.
