Roles & Responsibilities

Consultant / Specialist – Stroke Medicine

  

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

  

  

Position Overview

  

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant / Specialist in Stroke Medicine to join a leading private tertiary hospital in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering comprehensive, evidence-based stroke care, contributing to service development, and working within a multidisciplinary neuroscience team. Senior or leadership-level candidates will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping stroke services and clinical governance.

    

  

Key Responsibilities

  

 

Provide expert clinical care for acute stroke, TIA, and complex cerebrovascular cases

Lead and participate in acute stroke pathways, including thrombolysis and stroke unit management

Collaborate closely with Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, ICU, Rehabilitation, and Allied Health teams

Ensure compliance with international stroke care guidelines and best practices

Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives

Supervise, mentor, and support junior medical staff (where applicable)

Contribute to service development, audits, CME activities, and patient education

For senior profiles: provide leadership in stroke program development and strategic planning

  

Eligibility & Requirements

  

  

Medical Degree with Specialist / Consultant qualification in Stroke Medicine, Neurology, or related specialty

Recognized board certification (e.g., UK CCT / GMC, US Board, Australian FRACP, Canadian, or equivalent)

Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi licensure

Minimum 3–5 years post-specialist experience (consultant level preferred)

Strong experience in acute stroke management and multidisciplinary care

Excellent communication skills and patient-centered approach
