Roles & Responsibilities

The MEP Construction Manager at Royal Advance Electromechanical Works is responsible for ensuring the availability and approval of IFC and shop drawings, implementing all HSE procedures including LOTO, confined space and hot work protocols, maintaining HSE statistics, verifying access readiness, manpower, tools, materials, permits and NOCs prior to mobilization. The role includes attending coordination meetings with the Main Contractor and Consultant, reviewing updated coordination drawings, managing access and clearances, resolving clashes, and updating RFI and clearance logs. The manager oversees manpower planning through daily deployment sheets, weekly histograms, productivity monitoring, subcontractor attendance reviews, and toolbox talks. Material and inventory responsibilities include maintaining material request registers, tracking long-lead items, inspecting materials, verifying inventory, controlling issuance, weekly stock checks, and ensuring availability of critical spares. Planning duties include preparing 2-week and 4-week look-ahead schedules, aligning targets with milestones, tracking progress vs planned values, identifying delays, coordinating inspections, and submitting weekly progress charts. Productivity oversight includes defining benchmarks, recording daily progress, comparing with planned rates, analyzing gaps, and reallocating resources. QA/QC responsibilities involve ensuring approved ITPs and method statements, raising MIR/WIR, performing inspections, maintaining logs, managing NCRs, conducting audits, and verifying compliance with standards. Risk management includes maintaining and classifying a weekly MEP Risk Register, assigning mitigation actions, reviewing risks, and logging site issues. Clearance duties cover maintaining clearance logs, verifying civil readiness, obtaining consultant clearances, and tracking pending items. System installation responsibilities include mechanical/HVAC/chilled water/ventilation/smoke systems; plumbing systems; electrical LV/MV power, lighting, panels, generator rooms, busduct, earthing and lightning; ELV systems such as LCS, SCS, GRMS, CCTV, ACS, intercoms, PA/BGM; and Fire & Life Safety systems including FA, FF, SMS, CBS, and LPG. The manager oversees all Testing & Commissioning activities including preparation of T&C plans, pre-commissioning checks, vendor/consultant witness tests, recording results, preparing as-builts, O&M manuals, coordinating authority inspections, and closing snag lists. Reporting duties include preparing daily and weekly reports, maintaining registers for RFI/MIR/WIR, material, risk, inventory, NCRs, producing monthly summaries and maintaining photo documentation. Leadership responsibilities include conducting daily coordination meetings with foremen, attending weekly client/consultant meetings, communicating issues to the Project Manager, ensuring daily progress updates from engineers, and mentoring junior staff. Close-out responsibilities include verifying documentation and as-builts, closing NCRs and RFIs, finalizing demobilization, submitting warranties and spares, completing snagging/de-snagging, handing over fully operational systems, conducting end-user training, preparing O&M dossiers, conducting lessons-learned workshops, and updating risk registers for future improvements.
