Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including material, labor, and equipment costs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope.
  • Monitor project expenditures against the approved budget, proactively identifying and analyzing variances to prevent cost overruns.
  • Prepare and present regular cost reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing insights for informed decision-making.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis of electrical engineering designs and specifications, offering value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs.
  • Manage and control change orders, assessing their impact on the budget and schedule, and negotiating fair pricing with contractors.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective procurement strategies for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Review and approve contractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and verifying accuracy of charges.
  • Implement and maintain cost control procedures and systems, ensuring adherence to TAQA's financial policies and industry best practices.
  • Forecast project costs throughout the project lifecycle, providing accurate projections for financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing cost-related expertise and contributing to proactive risk management and cost mitigation strategies.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, providing a strong technical foundation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control within the electrical engineering or power generation industry, demonstrating practical application of knowledge.
  • Proven experience working on projects within the TAQA Abu Dhabi environment or similar power generation companies.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical engineering principles, design, and construction, enabling effective cost analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling effective identification and resolution of cost-related issues.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
