Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Crane Operator – Overhead (HSM) is responsible for operating overhead, JIP, and remote-controlled cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition heavy loads and equipment safely within the Hot Strip Mill (HSM). The operator must follow verbal, written, or signal instructions to manage crane movements, ensuring all loads are securely fastened and within the lifting capacity.
Key duties include:
- Operating stationary or traveling overhead cranes under own initiative and general supervision.
- Regulating crane speed, direction, and hoist movement based on instructions.
- Lifting and positioning machinery, structural components, and other heavy items.
- Assisting in clearing cobbles and their proper disposal.
- Changing saw blades as needed.
- Positioning and removing skips as required.
- Operating cranes precisely, following helper signals and adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Supporting various HSM areas with crane operations as needed.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education & Certification:
- Education: Below Higher Secondary.
- License: Valid overhead crane operator’s license (mandatory).
- Training: Safety training certification in crane operation; training in lifting tackles and slinging is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience operating overhead cranes in industrial or manufacturing settings.
