Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Shape and deliver a dynamic calendar of literary and cultural experiences - readings, workshops, book

clubs, festivals that deepen community engagement, support emerging voices, and advance HoW’s

thought-leadership in the literary arts.

  • Program Curation: Develop and oversee at least six literary events per year (author talks, writing workshops, youth slams) aligned to HoW’s themes.

  • Partnership Development: Secure and manage collaborations with publishers, literary agents, and cultural institutions to amplify program reach.

  • Event Logistics: Coordinate all operational details - venue, technical setup, merchandising,

    staffing, for each literary program.

  • Content & Communications: Draft promotional copy, speaker briefs, and post-event reports; work with Marketing to maximize visibility.

  • Community Outreach: Grow the HoW book-club membership by 20% annually via targeted engagement and membership drives.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s in Literature, Cultural Studies, Communications, or related field.

  • 3-5 years in literary programming, community outreach, or event management.

  • Experience working with authors, publishers, or cultural nonprofits.

  • Storytelling Expertise - Crafts compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

  • Partnership Mindset - Cultivates and leverages external relationships for program enhancement.

  • Detail Orientation - Ensures flawless logistical execution and exceptional attendee experience.

  • Engagement Focus - Actively listens to community feedback and iterates programming accordingly.
