Roles & Responsibilities

SUMMARY: Data center ELV (Extra Low Voltage) technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical systems within a data center environment. This includes systems like CCTV, access control, fire alarms, and structured cabling, ensuring their proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining ELV systems according to technical drawings and specifications
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues with ELV systems, including identifying faulty components and implementing necessary repairs
  • Regularly monitoring the performance and status of ELV systems, ensuring they are operating within optimal parameters
  • Maintaining accurate records of system installations, maintenance activities, and any troubleshooting performed
  • Ensuring that all ELV systems are installed and maintained in compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards
  • Working with other data center technicians, engineers, and contractors to ensure the seamless operation of the facility
  • Performing statutory maintenance testing and checks within the facility including emergency lighting, fire systems, electrical distribution, UPS systems, battery systems, security systems
  • Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Diploma degree or technical diploma in electronics or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of ELV system design and programming, read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams
  • Have a general understanding of electrical equipment in use in the data center (generator, UPS & batteries….)
  • Very familiar with Health & Safety guidelines and procedures, especially for operating mechanical or energized equipment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Have minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in ELV system installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, intercoms and security systems
  • Have experience in equipment commissioning, startup/shutdown, LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) and isolation, as well as performance monitoring and alarm management
  • Experience with ELV testing and commissioning tools.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated skills in diagnosis, analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to work a rotational on-call shift
  • Ability to work under pressure, adaptable
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to diagnose root cause of equipment failures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors who perform maintenance on the facility ELV equipment.
