Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the Academy s educational strategy by facilitating the integration of innovative curricula, leveraging resources from laboratories and libraries.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives through the development of academic frameworks and a robust digital learning ecosystem across academic departments.
  • Work closely with College Deans, Program Heads, Institutional Effectiveness, and business partners to ensure academic programs meet maritime industry standards and requirements.
  • Monitor educational provisions in accordance with the UAE Ministry of Education's standards, supporting year-on-year continuous improvement.
  • Champion Academy s digital learning ecosystem for campus based, hybrid, and online learning.
  • Ensure that the educational provisions are research informed and aligned to the industry needs.
  • Foster a strong learning and teaching community by providing tailored support and professional development for academic staff, enhancing their instructional methods in line with global best practices in applied Higher Education.
  • Assist academic staff in delivering high-quality education that caters for the diverse backgrounds and abilities of all students.
  • Be willing to travel as required and occasionally work outside of the contractual standard working hours.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Qualifications

  • PhD in Education or relevant subject
  • Recognised qualification for teaching in Higher Education
  • Relevant industry body affiliation/ membership

Skills

  • Ability to fluently speak, write and communicate in English at the highest level of professionalism.
  • Team player, approachable, sensitive towards all cultures
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure, with a commitment to completing tasks promptly and efficiently.

Experience

  • Extensive and expert knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching in higher education
  • Minimum of 5 years of academic leadership experience on higher education including evidence of successful change management program
  • Successful leadership at large-scale improvements or change projects within the area of higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and academic support.
  • Strong understanding of digital learning technologies and pedagogical best practices.
  • Familiarity with the UAE's Higher Education landscape, including policies, practices, and national education standards (QFEmirates, CAA, NQC).
