Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Deck Hand is responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, and safety of the vessel. The role includes handling deck equipment, supporting docking and mooring operations, maintaining cleanliness of the vessel, and performing transport duties using company vehicles when required.


Key Responsibilities – Vessel Operations

  • Assist the captain or marine supervisor in daily vessel operations.

  • Handle mooring and unmooring lines during docking and departure.

  • Help in loading and unloading cargo, equipment, or passengers.

  • Monitor deck equipment and ensure safe operation.

  • Assist in navigation watch when required.


Maintenance Duties

  • Clean and maintain the deck, equipment, and vessel structures.

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, washing, and minor repairs.

  • Inspect ropes, safety equipment, and deck machinery regularly.

  • Report any damage or safety hazards to the supervisor.


Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all marine safety procedures and company regulations.

  • Participate in emergency drills and safety training.

  • Assist during emergency situations such as fire, man overboard, or equipment failure.


Driving Duties

  • Operate company vehicles to transport crew, supplies, or equipment.

  • Ensure vehicle is clean, maintained, and fuelled.

  • Follow all traffic laws and company driving policies.

  • Assist with logistics and supply runs when required.

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

  • Valid UAE Driving License (Light Vehicle preferred).

  • Previous experience as Deck Hand, Boat Crew, or Marine Assistant is an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of marine safety and vessel operations.

  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors and handle manual tasks.

  • Ability to swim is preferred.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic seamanship training.

  • Knowledge of rope handling and marine equipment.

  • Experience working on boats, barges, or marine vessels.

Working Conditions

  • Work may involve long hours, outdoor conditions, and shift work.

  • Exposure to water, weather conditions, and physical tasks.
