Roles & Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Perform Deep hole drilling and honing operation including assist with programming, setting up, and operating a deep hole drilling and honing machine, maintaining quality and safety standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Deep-hole drilling

  1. Set up and operate deep hole drilling machines (e.g., BTA, gundrill, or ejector systems) according to engineering specifications and safety standards.
  2. Select and install appropriate tooling, bushings, and support fixtures for deep hole machining processes to ensure optimal accuracy and surface finish.
  3. Monitor coolant flow, pressure, and filtration systems to maintain proper chip evacuation and prevent tool breakage during deep hole drilling.
  4. Measure and inspect bore straightness, diameter, and surface finish using precision instruments such as bore gauges, ultrasonic testers, and profilometers.
  5. Adjust machine parameters (feed rate, spindle speed, coolant pressure) to optimize cutting conditions for various materials and hole depths.
  6. Document process parameters, inspection results, and any deviations in the Routing and maintain records for quality assurance.
  7. Identify and report non-conformances or process discrepancies specific to deep hole machining, issuing NCRs as required.
  8. Perform routine maintenance on deep hole drilling equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and chip management.
  9. Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and 5S standards in the deep hole machining area.

Honing Machine

  1. Set up and operate honing machines to achieve precise bore diameter, roundness, and surface finish according to engineering specifications.
  2. Select and install appropriate honing stones, mandrels, and fixtures for each job, ensuring compatibility with material and required tolerances.
  3. Monitor and adjust machine parameters (stroke length, speed, pressure, coolant flow) to optimize the honing process and achieve desired results.
  4. Inspect and measure finished bores using precision instruments such as bore gauges, air gauges, and profilometers to verify conformance to specifications.
  5. Perform routine maintenance on honing equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and stone replacement.
  6. Document process parameters, inspection results, and any deviations in the Routing and maintain records for quality assurance.
  7. Identify and report non-conformances or process discrepancies specific to honing operations, issuing NCRs as required.
  8. Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and 5S standards in the honing area.

Other responsibilities

  1. Use and maintain all measuring equipment, tools, gauges, and fixtures to ensure accuracy.
  2. Record labor hours in MES.
  3. Keep records and maintain equipment and supplies.
  4. Adhere to company guidelines for safety, quality, and business conduct.
  5. Performs basic equipment maintenance like cleaning, added coolant / hydraulic oils and removal of cutting chips

Desired Candidate Profile

QUALIFICATION GUIDE

  1. Education :  Minimum Diploma or Certificate from Vocational/Tech/Eng School of Studies
  2. Communication    :  Able to read, converse and interpret in English
  3. Experience             :  At least 2 years of deep hole drilling and/ or honing operations in a manufacturing environment
  4. Working condition:
    1. Able to work on rotating shifts (8am-8pm – 1st shift & 8pm-8am – 2nd shift)
    2. Able to work in a non-airconditioned machine shop
