Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of subcontracts and supplier agreements, ensuring terms align with the main contract and company policy.
- Coordinate the change control process, including the preparation, submission, and negotiation of variation orders and contract amendments.
- Maintain meticulous records for all contract-related correspondence and documentation, ensuring a robust audit trail.
- Assist in evaluating and certifying subcontractor and supplier payment applications, ensuring payments are in accordance with contractual terms.
- Provide support for the financial close-out of subcontracts and prepare final account settlements.
- Monitor project cash flow, budgets, and cost control measures to maintain project financial health.
- Help manage and resolve contractual disputes and claims with subcontractors and suppliers through negotiation and mediation.
- Assist in the preparation of all contractual notices of claims and provide contractual advice to the project team.
- Ensure all project commercial activities are in full compliance with the head contract, subcontracts, and company procedures.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks, working with the Contracts Manager to develop and implement risk management strategies.
- Ensure all necessary contractual requirements, such as performance bonds and insurance policies, are in place and up to date.
- Liaise with the project team, client representatives, and legal counsel on all contractual and commercial matters.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure all parties understand their contractual obligations.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on contract status, claims, and commercial risks to the Contracts Manager and senior management.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in contract administration or commercial management within the construction industry, with prior experience working for a main contractor.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard contract forms, such as FIDIC.
- Proven negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with construction contract management software.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., from RICS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
