Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, service, rebuild, overhaul, and repair a variety of heavy wheeled vehicles.

  • Ensure that all heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections, servicing, rebuilds, overhauls and repairs are accomplished in accordance with all technical manuals, KPIs and OEM specifications. Perform quality maintenance repairs as part of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System program. Perform heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections to determine the extent of repair and spare parts requirements.

  • Perform heavy wheeled vehicle troubleshooting using special tools and diagnostic test equipment.

  • Replace heavy wheeled vehicle major assemblies (engines, transmissions, transfer cases and differentials) and subassemblies (starters, alternators, generators and pumps).

  • Ensure all maintenance order spare parts residue is returned to the Workshop store.

  • Perform heavy wheeled vehicle spare parts research to ensure that only required spare parts are requisitioned in the appropriate quantities.

  • Complete maintenance related documentation such as maintenance tasks accomplished, direct labour hours consumed, vehicle specific information, spare part request forms, etc.

  • Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives.

  • Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.

  • Support other members of the Workshop in fulfilling their roles.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Manager, Workshop.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

  • A minimum of one year of experience performing scheduled and/or unscheduled maintenance on heavy wheeled vehicles is required.

  • Previous experience or automotive training is an advantage.

  • The ability to interpret complex electrical, mechanical and/or hydraulic schematics is preferred. Previous experience using diagnostic testing equipment is an advantage.
