A leading Management Consulting firm is has created competitive advantage for its clients by changing the way companies operate. Its management consultants work with senior executives, and operational leads, to develop and implement operational strategies that deliver breakthrough results. Among other things, the firm is a global leader in strategy, operations, supply chain, cost reduction, product and service innovation, customer value management, and business transformation. In order to fortify its current offering, the Management Consulting practice is looking to hire a Senior Director for its Aviation and Transportation group (this is a Partner-track role).
The Director a well-rounded professional will work with the CIPS (Consumer & Industrial Products Services) leader (Middle East), to manage and grow the Aviation and Transportation group, leveraging existing clients, network, and available consultants who have previously worked in aviation and transportation. As the lead for this practice area, he/she will write the annual business plan, and balance content expertise and industry relationships, to deliver to this plan. His/her role will include growing the team of consultants as appropriate, expanding beyond the current clients, enhancing the service offerings, take on the role of client relationship director for selected client(s), and selling and delivering engagements in the practice. He/she will initially manage 6-10 consultants of various seniorities, with the expectation to grow the business and the team rapidly.
The Director will also contribute 20-30% of his/her time to the global Aviation Center of Excellence (CoE), which entails:
- Managing a team of 1-2 resources permanently assigned to the CoE, incl. setting annual objectives, appraising performance, and giving weekly guidance on activities
- Addressing support requests coming from the global network that require senior expertise or complex coordination (that level-1 resources cannot address)
- Working with the Aviation CoE s Steering Committee members to define a roadmap of activities for the CoE, and organize and monitor their execution
- Join the global aviation and transportation leadership team in discussions about the global industry, and its strategy and activities
- Managing industry partnerships with aviation partners such as ACI, CAPA, IATA, OAG, etc. and coordinate funding, working groups, and events participation
- Supervising the CoE s knowledge management hub and organize and contribute to the development of aviation-related thought leadership
- Overall, being an active ambassador of the aviation industry to the internal network and be the face of the CoE to the rest of global network
The ideal candidate will be intimately familiar with the industry in the Middle East, including airlines and airports, regulations, investments, challenges and trends. He/she will be a strong leader, who demonstrates business acumen and content leadership, and can confidently manage consultants and clients. The candidate should demonstrate strong international exposure and a deep understanding of the entire aviation and transportation value chain. The preferable candidate will be able to recommend industry metrics and KPIs commonly used to drive, monitor and measure company performance.

Business Development
- Identify opportunities, and drive business development resulting in a group of core clients
- Work with account relationship partners, and take on the role of client relationship director for selected client(s)
- Create and regularly re-adjust the group s offering and take it to market
- Be accountable for the creation and execution of a 3-year practice plan that includes revenue targets, key target accounts and investments required
- On a best-effort basis, support business development done by the rest of the global network that requires support from the Aviation CoE
Project Delivery and Leadership
- Successfully plan, manage and deliver engagements
- Strong client management relationships, quality, financials
- Manage project teams of 3-15 consultants
Practice and Team Management
- Actively manage the Aviation Consulting team coaching and development, recruiting, projects, etc. as well as the Aviation CoE team
- Assist in efforts to create IP that is relevant to on-going projects and which can be leveraged to win new clients
- Drive other CIPS-related initiatives, as required
- Be actively involved in consulting and firm-wide activities and initiatives
