Roles & Responsibilities
Requirements for steel reinforcement draftsman:
1. Academic qualifications and professional qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field
2. Professional experience
Required: At least 5-8 years of drafting experience on large-scale construction projects in the UAE (or GCC countries).
Key Requirements: Must have complete project experience with at least one supertall building project (typically over 150 meters) in Dubai or the UAE, be familiar with steel reinforcement specifications such as BS4449 and ACI318 structural code, be able to independently review steel reinforcement drawings submitted by steel reinforcement processing companies, and have the ability to independently draw steel reinforcement drawings for supertall buildings.
3. Technical knowledge and skills
Proficient in construction specifications: Deeply understand and master the relevant regulations of Dubai Municipality (DM) and Dubai Civil Defense Authority (DCD), as well as international standards (such as ACI, ASTM, BS).
Drawings and Documents: Excellent ability to read, review, and prepare drawings.
Software skills: Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel and Project), AutoCAD; familiar with BIM concepts and common collaboration platforms.
4. Language ability
Fluent English is an absolute must for written communication, meetings, technical documentation, and collaboration with multinational teams.
Attention to detail and quality consciousness: Has extremely high standards for construction quality and is familiar with internationally recognized quality control/assurance (QC/QA) practices.
Resilience and adaptability: Able to adapt to the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of ultra-high-rise projects and flexibly respond to ever-changing work challenges.
Cultural sensitivity: Possesses the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and respects and understands the cultures and work habits of colleagues from different countries.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is essential for technical understanding.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in an HSE role, preferably within the oil and gas or construction industries.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) to validate expertise in safety management.
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems to effectively identify and mitigate hazards.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards to ensure compliance with international safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex safety data and making informed decisions to improve workplace safety.
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus for multinational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead safety training and workshops, fostering a culture of safety awareness among employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and engage employees in HSE initiatives.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying safety concerns and implementing innovative solutions.
