Roles & Responsibilities

As a Duty Catering Officer, you will manage disruptions caused to catering operations network-wide, by proactively monitoring the operation and make decisions that deliver the best outcome for Service Delivery, and contribute to maintaining the airlines operating schedule as a whole.

In this role, you will:

  • Represent SD-Catering at the Network Control Centre and be the central point of contact, 24/7/365, for addressing all catering related issues arising on the day of operations to achieve safe (Food & Ops), efficient, cost effective and timely catering handling for all Emirates flights across the network.
  • Maintain operational contingency plans with all catering and non-catering stations to ensure operational performance maintained during times of disruption.
  • Recommend effective solutions in advance, to resolve a range of standard and unforeseen issues of third party catering contractors on the network with regard to the delivery of provisions for flight operations including disruptions on shift, to maintain Emirates standards with minimal impact on passengers, cost effectively.
  • Monitor Emirates flight movements on the network (departures/arrivals) and the dynamic operations at Dubai airport including Emirates freighters, to ensure that operational priorities are pro-actively and efficiently handled by caterers, as per SOP's to achieve on time departure whilst maintaining safety standards.
  • Collaborate & Influence VPNC when planning recovery on disrupted/potential disruption so catering operations are optimised and rescheduled for minimal impact to our on board guest. This includes in-flight disruptions, industrial action CAT G and C and departmental serious disruption plan.
  • Take command of catering during initial stage of extreme events effecting Emirates operations to closely coordinate emergency response procedures.
  • Action and follow-up shortfall reports received from cabin crew, airborne flights, Line Maintenance (unserviceability) on operational matters and initiate corrective/mitigating action to eliminate impact to our on-board guest.
  • Alert caterers network-wide of deviations to the catering schedule during shift to reschedule line operations including revisions to meal uplift to maintain service standards to our guest and integrity of the operation (equipment exchange), including subsequent flights from the catering station.
  • Execute the uplift of catering on all Freighters, Charters, A319, etc., by co-coordinating with the Airport Services Team, Sky Cargo to schedule Planning and Caterers to ensure Catering uplifts are on-time, in-full and to specifications.
  • Develop & maintain close professional relationships with all internal and external customers to control the delivery of complex and customized products and services, in order to ensure effective execution during disrupted operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in In-Flight Services / In-Flight Catering.
  • 12 years schooling or equivalent.
  • Catering experience in a dynamic operations environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of airline catering operations.
  • An ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing/adapting operational environment.
  • Good command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively.
