Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Tender Review and Understanding

  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems such as LV, MV, HT, ELV, and power distribution.
  • Identify project scope, inclusions, exclusions, and potential risks from the electrical perspective.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) in line with project requirements.

2. Cost Estimation and Budgeting

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs for all electrical works.
  • Analyze vendor quotations and supplier offers for accuracy and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Develop cost comparison sheets and identify the most economical and technically viable solutions.
  • Support the preparation of project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost benchmarking.

3. Technical and Design Coordination

  • Coordinate with design engineers and consultants to clarify technical queries and resolve design discrepancies.
  • Ensure design changes are accurately reflected in the estimate and documented properly.
  • Collaborate with other discipline estimators (civil, HVAC, PHE, fire fighting, ELV) for integrated cost assessment.

4. Value Engineering

  • Evaluate and propose cost-effective alternatives in design, materials, or construction methods without compromising performance or quality.
  • Contribute to optimization of energy systems, redundancy, and electrical efficiency typical to data center environments (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, etc.).

5. Vendor and Subcontractor Management

  • Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain a vendor database with updated pricing, lead times, and performance records.
  • Conduct technical and commercial comparison of vendor proposals.

6. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare tender summaries, cost analysis reports, and technical clarifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions, and correspondence for future reference.
  • Prepare presentations and support bid submissions for management review.

7. Post-Tender Support

  • Assist in negotiation meetings with clients or vendors to finalize costs and scope.
  • Provide estimation backup during project handover to execution teams.
  • Support cost variance analysis and lessons learned post-award.

8. Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure all estimates comply with relevant codes (IEC, NEC, BS, local authority standards).
  • Adhere to company policies, HSE standards, and data center-specific requirements (Tier classification, redundancy levels, uptime standards).
