Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used in primary tobacco processing operations. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production machinery, utilities, and facility electrical systems while complying with company policies, safety standards, and local electrical regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and plant utilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in production equipment such as:
- Tobacco threshing and redrying machines
- Conveyors, feeders, elevators, and fans
- Compressors, boilers, dryers, and HVAC systems
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot:
- Motors, MCC panels, control panels, and switchgear
- PLC-based control systems (basic level)
- Sensors, actuators, VFDs, and instrumentation
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Perform cable laying, termination, and panel wiring according to standards.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and factory safety procedures.
- Support commissioning of new equipment and production lines.
- Maintain electrical spare parts inventory and recommend replacements when required.
- Coordinate with mechanical technicians, production teams, and supervisors during maintenance activities.
- Record maintenance activities, breakdowns, and corrective actions in maintenance logs or CMMS.
- Ensure continuous operation of utilities including power supply, generators, and UPS systems.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene, and housekeeping standards relevant to tobacco processing facilities.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety regulations and electrical codes.
- Ensure safe working practices in hazardous areas (dust, heat, high-voltage zones).
- Comply with company policies, local labor laws, and environmental standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Electricity.
Valid electrical trade license (if required by local regulations).
Minimum 2-5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician in: Tobacco processing, FMCG, food processing, or industrial manufacturing plants.
Experience with continuous process plants is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (LV/MV preferred).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Motors and motor control circuits
- PLC panels (basic fault diagnosis)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Power distribution systems
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.

- Ability to work under pressure and respond to breakdowns.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in shifts and during plant shutdowns.
