Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Engineer – SMP2 E&A – Level 1 Automation will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Level 1 automation systems (PLC/SCADA) within the SMP2 process. The role involves working closely with the production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of automated systems across the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute automation and control system activities for SMP2 (Shop-floor Manufacturing Process 2) operations.
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems to ensure seamless process control.
  • Ensure all Level 1 automation systems comply with plant and safety standards.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and validation of new automation systems or process upgrades.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation-related breakdowns or performance issues.
  • Collaborate with instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical teams for project integration and support.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, logic flow, and control narratives.
  • Work on continuous improvement projects to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and energy optimization.
  • Support data integration with Level 2 and MES systems as required.
  • Maintain compliance with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) and quality standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, or equivalent).
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (WinCC, Wonderware, iFIX, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Hands-on experience in control panel design, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Analytical mindset with good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of industrial safety and automation standards (IEC, ISA).
