Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Lesson Planning, Teaching and Learning
Planning for outstanding teaching and learning through:
- Creating a climate for learning that is conducive for outstanding practice.
- Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives.
- Setting tasks which challenge students and ensure high levels of interest.
- Setting appropriate and demanding expectations.
- Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment.
- Identifying SEN or very able students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation.
- Providing clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
- Making effective use of assessment for learning.
- Making effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated lessons.
- Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school s Behaviour for Learning Policy.
- Using a variety of teaching strategies:
- match approach to content, structure information, present key ideas, use appropriate vocabulary.
- use effective questioning, listen carefully, address errors and misconceptions.
- select learning resources and develop study skills through library, ICT, and technology.
- Reflecting on and evaluating own teaching to improve effectiveness.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting
- Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use results to improve teaching.
- Mark students work at least once every two weeks and set targets.
- Use performance data to inform planning and ensure teaching continues to add value.
- Assess and record students progress systematically.
- Undertake assessment required by exam bodies and school procedures.
- Prepare and present informative reports to parents.
Curriculum Development
- Participate in subject development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
- Keep subject knowledge updated through CPD and professional reading.
- Attend PD workshops as appropriate.
Other Professional Requirements
- Operate within school policies and practices.
- Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and set an outstanding example in personal and professional conduct.
- Offer at least one after-school activity per term as part of the Extra Curricular program.
- Contribute to wider school life, including meetings, marketing, Open Evenings, Parent Evenings, and partner school events.
- Undertake staff duties as per duty rota.
- Undertake exam invigilation duties as required.
- Cover for absent colleagues as needed.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor degree in relevant field.
Minimum 2 5 years experience.
Competence in computer use and technology integration.
Teaching License is required.
Ability to relate to students, staff, parents, and the wider school community.
