Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and related documents to accurately determine fire alarm system requirements and scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Develop comprehensive bid proposals that highlight technical solutions, value propositions, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and gather critical information for accurate estimations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project scope, address technical queries, and optimize designs.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes, negotiate pricing, and select the most cost-effective and reliable suppliers for fire alarm system components.
  • Manage and maintain a database of costs, labor rates, and material prices to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates.
  • Review and analyze change orders, providing cost implications and recommendations for managing project variations.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, new technologies, and code regulations related to fire alarm systems to enhance estimation accuracy.
  • Prepare and present estimates to clients, addressing their questions and concerns while promoting the company's capabilities.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
  • NICET Level II certification or higher in Fire Alarm Systems is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in fire alarm system estimation and design.
  • Proven ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software such as Accubid, ConEst, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA codes, local fire codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
