Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate cost estimates for complex engineering projects, ensuring alignment with client specifications and project requirements.
  • Conduct thorough market research to gather current pricing data on materials and labor, enabling informed decision-making for project budgeting.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project scope and technical specifications, minimizing discrepancies during the estimation process.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals, including comprehensive breakdowns of costs, timelines, and resources required, to support competitive bidding processes.
  • Perform risk assessments on project estimates, identifying potential cost overruns and developing mitigation strategies to safeguard project budgets.
  • Utilize advanced estimation software and tools to streamline the estimation process and enhance accuracy in cost forecasting.
  • Review and analyze subcontractor bids to ensure compliance with project requirements and competitive pricing, fostering strong partnerships with subcontractors.
  • Provide expert guidance and support during project execution, assisting in value engineering and cost control efforts to maintain budget integrity.
  • Participate in post-project evaluations to assess the accuracy of initial estimates against actual costs, identifying areas for improvement in future estimations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is essential for a strong foundation in estimation principles.

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in cost estimation, particularly within the construction or engineering sectors, is preferred.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or Certified Cost Technician (CCT) are highly regarded and indicative of expertise.

  • Proficiency in estimation software such as RSMeans, Sage Estimating, or similar tools is crucial for effective cost analysis and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required to ensure accuracy in cost estimates and project proposals.

  • Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively convey complex information to colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated and able to manage individual tasks efficiently.
