Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and scope, facilitating accurate estimation of resources and timelines.
  • Research and evaluate labor, material, and overhead costs by consulting historical data and industry benchmarks to enhance estimation reliability.
  • Utilize advanced estimation software and tools to create comprehensive cost models, improving efficiency and accuracy in the estimation process.
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals and cost breakdowns to stakeholders, effectively communicating the rationale behind estimates.
  • Conduct risk analysis to identify potential cost impacts associated with project uncertainties, providing strategies to mitigate financial risks.
  • Participate in value engineering sessions, suggesting alternatives that could reduce costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and competitiveness in bids.
  • Track project costs and compare them to estimates post-completion, providing insights for future improvement in estimation accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and enhance collaborative project execution.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Certification in Cost Estimating (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst) is highly preferred to demonstrate expertise in the field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimation or project management is required for effective performance.
  • Proven experience in the construction or engineering industry is essential, with specific knowledge of structural, mechanical, or electrical estimation.
  • Proficiency in estimation software such as Primavera, Bluebeam, or Excel is necessary for accurate and efficient cost calculations.
  • Strong analytical skills are crucial for interpreting complex data and making informed decisions regarding project costs.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to articulate estimates clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail is paramount, as small errors in estimation can lead to significant cost overruns.
  • A proactive attitude and problem-solving skills are vital for identifying issues and proposing viable solutions during the estimation process.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in additional languages is a plus for projects involving international stakeholders.
