Executive Director of Medical and Clinical Affairs

Summary
Responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of Medical & Clinical Affairs. S/he will be a member of the Hospital's Executive Team and will work in collaboration with Chief Executive Director. S/he will be responsible for directing and implementing administrative policy and operational activities within Medical & Clinical Affairs and representing the hospital at both national international events. S/he will act as an ambassador for the Hospital at all times.
Education / Qualification Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Health Discipline or Hospital Administration or related discipline required.
• Master's degree in Health Discipline or Hospital Administration or related discipline required.
• Education must be obtained from North America, Western Europe, New Zealand or Australia.
Experience:
• Twelve (12) years of administrative experience at a senior level in a large complex hospital or health care institution.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Creates a vision for Medical & Clinical Affairs department and creates an environment to facilitate achievement of vision.
• Develops and implements a strategic plan for medical & clinical affairs in keeping with the Hospital's overall strategy, mission, resource allocation and operational policies.
• Liaises with medical staff at all levels to ensure effective communication and motivation of staff across the Medical & Clinical Affairs department. Provide counsel and guidance to medical and clinical staff as indicated. Creates a calibre that facilitates a continuous improvement paradigm to achieve professional practice and goals.
• Supports the professional development of medical and clinical professionals throughout the organization and identifies development needs across Medical & Clinical Affairs department. Plans training programs in collaboration with the Education and Training & Development Departments to address identified needs. Develop Medical & Clinical Management competencies and skills, and promotes education and training to support this effort.
• Collaborates with the medical leadership, other Hospital departments and staff to promote the most effective and efficient patient/family care within the available resources from outpatient visit to admission through discharge.
• Plans operational and capital budgeting in collaboration with medical and financial colleagues. Accountable for the Medical and Clinical Affairs' budget and the delegation of responsibility to the medical & clinical management team for the day-to-day use of resources. Monitors budgetary activity for Medical & Clinical Affairs as a whole and ensure that a balance between quality medical care and budget requirements is maintained.
• Ensures continuous performance improvement across Medical & Clinical Affairs department and supports the development of multidisciplinary collaborative practice that improves the quality, appropriateness and efficiency of patient care across the organization.
• Fosters a partnership approach to amalgamation. Gains from scale and scope of knowledge skills and resources. Directs and evaluates alignment of human and capital resources to achieve strategic priorities.
• Establishes and monitors policies and procedures that support high standards of medical practice that are in keeping with the overall Hospital policy and those required by external regulators and accreditors.
• Ensures the retention of high quality medical staff, and the recruitment of well-qualified and experienced staff.
• Ensures the expansion of management information systems across the Medical & Clinical Affairs in keeping with the Hospital's strategic plan.
• Ensures quality medical and clinical educational programs, clinical experiences, and research across the Medical & Clinical Affairs department.
• Participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork. Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times.
• Upholds the organizational values at all times.
• Participates in Hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
• Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
