Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tracking and updating the status of purchase orders with suppliers and vendors.
- Maintain strong, positive relationships with vendors to facilitate open communication and quick resolution of issues.
- Expedite orders for major equipment, critical path items, and bulk materials based on project schedules and technical specifications.
- Regularly communicate with suppliers to monitor production progress, inspection status, and delivery dates.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to schedule material deliveries to the site according to project priorities.
- Identify and troubleshoot potential issues with orders, such as delays, discrepancies in quality or quantity, or delivery failures.
- Proactively address potential material shortages and logistical challenges to prevent disruptions to the construction workflow.
- Work collaboratively with project management, engineering, and quality control departments to find solutions to expedite deliveries.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all purchase orders, delivery schedules, communications, and inspection reports.
- Generate and submit regular expediting status reports to the Procurement Manager and Project Management, detailing order progress, potential risks, and root causes of delays.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Logistics) is preferred.
- 10 years of experience in a similar expeditor or procurement role within the construction or engineering industry.
- Proven experience working with suppliers and managing purchase orders for construction materials and equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with ERP or procurement software.
- Strong understanding of technical material specifications and project schedules.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently to achieve results.
