Facade Engineer GHD

As a Fa ade Engineer, you will assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of building facades. You will work closely with senior engineers and architects to ensure that facades meet structural, thermal, acoustic, and aesthetic requirements. The right candidate brings in a combination of fundamental structural engineering knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a basic understanding of architectural design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with UAE team and provide specialist input during design and tender phases of projects to resolve technical issues and ensure integration of fa ade designs seamlessly into building overall plans.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams including Architecture, Structural Engineering, MEP Engineering, Acoustic Engineering, Fire and Life Safety, Fa ade Access, Project Management etc.
• Assist the team in the design of projects, technically, and understand the best facade solutions.
• Collaborate with senior team members to ensure that facade designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Conduct glazing and framing sizing calculations using finite element software such as Strand 7, STAAD.
• Develop concepts and structural checks for proposed systems, as hand sketches or basic CAD drawing to be developed by fa ade designer.
• Assist the team in reviewing contractor technical submissions and attend contractor workshops.
• Conduct 1D thermal performance and condensation risk analysis with assistance from the senior engineer.
• Liaise with manufacturers and system suppliers to better understand capabilities and limitations of their products.
• Assist in the completion of stage reports, design criteria documents and performance specifications.
• Consultant review of fa ade structural calculations provided by subcontractors.
• Review project specification to highlight fa ade specific requirements, flag performance criteria that need to be rectified, considering local codes and project requirements.
• Review of material submittals and material approval documents.
• Review of shop drawings taking into consideration the performance criteria for the project, including tolerances, structural supports, thermal and acoustic performances.
• Conduct ad hoc tasks and assist in the smooth running of our projects and be a key part of making a success of our growing team.
