Facilities Planning Department (FPD) is responsible for the development and coordination of the capital programs throughout the Company. The successful candidate will be part of Refining & Chemicals Facilities Planning Division (R&CFPD) within FPD.
The Refining & Chemicals Facilities Planning Division (R&CFPD) comprises of three groups: Downstream Development Group (DDG), Refining Group (RG), and Chemicals Group (CG). The activities of R&CFPD include: developing Master Plans, conducting studies and economic evaluations, developing business cases and alternatives for proposed capital projects, leading integrated project teams through preparing Design Basis Scoping Papers, and preparing expenditure request documentation and presenting to Corporate Management.
A potential candidate for this position, should have:
Minimum Years of Experience Required: 12 years.
Major: B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
Advanced Degree Preferred in Economics preferred.
Experience in performing economic evaluations, feasibility studies and preparing requests for budgetary approvals.
Experience with professional consultant in planning and executing engineering studies.
Experience in applying and analyzing process/system simulation and economics of refinery or petrochemical operations.
Excellent written and oral technical presentation skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Facilities Planning Specialist, primary roles are to:
Conduct feasibility studies on refineries and petrochemical facilities and develop long-term business strategies related to these facilities.
Lead integrated project teams to prepare design basis scoping papers to define capital projects involving refineries and petrochemical investments.
Prepare expenditure request documentation and present it to Corporate Management.
Interface with Operating Organizations, New Business Development, Engineering, Project Management, and Corporate Staff.
Perform process/system and economic evaluations of existing and potential new refining and petrochemical facilities.
Direct evaluations of major refining and petrochemical facilities as performed by others.
Prepare and make presentations to Corporate Management on refining petrochemical investment opportunities.
Provide full-time consultation to Saudi Aramco management and other organizations.
Mentor the training of future Facilities Planning Specialists.
The Engineering & Project Management (E&PM) business line studies, plans and oversees the construction of the Company's new facilities, including some of the biggest and most complex projects in the petroleum industry. Recently, Saudi Aramco completed the largest capital program in its history that included new or expanded oil, gas and petrochemical facilities, raising maximum sustainable crude oil production capacity to 12 million barrels per day and significantly increasing gas production and processing capacities. Among the recently completed projects was the largest crude oil increment in the history of the industry: Khurais, with a production capacity of 1.2 million barrels per day. More challenges lie ahead, with a slate of new or expanded oil, gas, refining and petrochemical projects in the works. E&PM also manages the Company's Research & Development Center where scientists investigate topics such as the desulfurization of crude oil, advanced fuel formulations for next generation combustion engines, and reservoir nano-scale robots (Resbots ) for injection into reservoirs to record their properties.
