Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The job holder Under the supervision of Controller performs highly Professional accounting task within the area of assignment. The job holder is responsible to handle the various month end financial accounting, reconciliations and related clearances / follow up, reporting, project reporting, governance and systems role of an individual company or a group of companies in line with the policies and procedures as agreed and directed by the Controller.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Month-end closing activities
    • Perform month-end closing activities as agreed with Controller by ensuring all Journals are passed for approval as per the timelines.
    • Review all Invoices, expense accounts and prepare amortization and accrual schedules and ensure all costs are accounted for the period with accuracy.
    • Support intercompany accounting by providing relevant documents and charge codes.
    • Prepare amortization and accrual schedules with appropriate reconciliations for Controller's review and acceptance.
  2. General Ledger Reconciliations
    • Responsibility includes reviewing all balance sheet accounts assigned by Controller and prepares schedules on monthly and periodic basis.
    • Responsible to follow-up on all agreed action plans arising out of reconciliation review from the Line Manager as per timelines.
    • Responsible to minimize the number of outstanding items on monthly basis to achieve the reconciliation goals.
    • Review control accounts and identify actions to be taken by business or GFS and follow up for clearance.
    • Enter all IFRS & Non-IFRS Contracts into the lease modules and ensure timely processing of payments. Prepare related reconciliation schedules on monthly basis.
    • Highlight instances of non-conformities to control framework and potential control issues on day to day transactions for resolution
    • Notifies Controller on observation of system issues and process for corrective action.
  3. Capital Projects Accounting
    • Responsible to prepare Fixed Assets schedules on quarterly basis and for Audit purposes as per International Financial Reporting Standards.
    • Prepare and submit CIP analysis on monthly basis to ensure all capital projects are accounted and capitalized on time.

    Additional Principal Accountabilities

  4. Audit & Professional Consultancy
    • Prepares half yearly and annual schedules for audits.
    • Participate in explaining the queries raised by auditors as required.
  5. Compliance & Control
    • Support the function to ensure all transactions are carried as per approved group policies and procedures.
    • Support the function to ensure all transactions are as per approved Delegation of Authority.
  6. Systems review
    • Support Controller in projects that require Finance inputs from transaction monitoring and control.
    • Support Controller for User Acceptance Testing for the modules assigned to Finance for implementation.
  7. Continuous Improvements / Special Assignments
    • Support Controller Reconciliation and Tax with ad-hoc projects and special assignments assigned from time to time.
    • Provide suggestions for process improvements by reviewing current policies and procedures.
  8. Insurance Management
    • Coordinate relevant stakeholders including insurance provider to obtain required documents for finalizing insurance claims for ENOC Retail & Tasjeel.
    • Support Controller to finalize all insurance claims are adequately captured and finalized.
    • Account all Claims outstanding in General Ledger with appropriate provisions.
    • This task ensures tracking all insurance claims and timely settlement by the insurance companies.
